Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
These are the standards behind everything we publish. They explain how our content is created, reviewed, and kept current — and how we keep our business relationships separate from our guidance.
Our mission
Help everyday US consumers understand credit cards — rewards, APR, fees, and credit-building — and choose with confidence. We focus on education, not hype.
Editorial independence
Advertisers can't pay for favorable coverage, and they don't choose our topics or our conclusions. Our advertising partner does set rules for how offers may be described (for example, we never quote specific rates, fees, or bonus amounts), and those rules make our content more cautious, not more promotional. For details on how we are compensated, see our Advertiser Disclosure and How We Make Money pages.
How we create content
Our articles are based on how card products generally work, publicly available information, and the questions people search for. We focus on education rather than promises about specific rates, approval odds, or dollar outcomes, because those are set by issuers and vary by applicant.
How do we fact-check our content?
Every article is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and timeliness before publishing, and again on a regular schedule. When something changes about how a product category generally works, we revisit the affected content.
How current is this?
Each article shows a "Published" and a "Last reviewed" date. "Last reviewed" means we re-checked the piece for accuracy. Routine reviews are not corrections — we only change a review date when we have genuinely re-checked the content.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly. If you spot something that looks wrong, tell us — see our Corrections Policy or email support@capitalcardsquare.com.
Who's behind our content
Our articles are published under the byline of Ben Gard. Each piece is written in plain, second-person language and re-checked on a regular schedule. Learn more about us.
Not financial advice
Capital Card Square provides general educational and comparison information only. We are not a financial advisor, credit counselor, broker, bank, or card issuer, and nothing here is financial, legal, tax, or professional advice, or a recommendation to apply for any specific product. Always review an issuer's full terms before applying, and consider consulting a qualified professional about your situation.
